    July 22, 2013 - SSH-Birmingham named a 2013 Quality Respiratory Care Institute
Select Specialty Hospital-Birmingham has been named a 2013 Quality Respiratory Care Institute by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). To earn this distinction, our hospital had to demonstrate and ensure patient safety by agreeing to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing respiratory care services. Only approximately 15 percent of U.S. hospitals have received this distinction from the AARC. The AARC states that "hospitals that meet the Quality Respiratory Care Program requirements provide a level of respiratory care consistent with national standards and guidelines, and should be commended for their commitment to quality care."
July 22, 2013 - SSH-Birmingham partners with the United Way
Select Specialty Hospital is proud to partner with other hospitals in our area to participate with the United Way of Central Alabama. UWCA funds a block of health and human services within a five-county coverage area of Jefferson, Shelby, Walker, Blount and St. Clair counties. We are pleased to assist them with their mission to increase the organized capacity of people to care for one another and to improve their community.
July 22, 2013 - SSH-Birmingham partners with the American Heart Association
In May 2012, Select Medical announced its first-ever national team initiative with the American Heart Association. Since Select Specialty Hospital-Birmingham is the only Select Specialty Hospital in Alabama, we participate in multiple communities. Last year, SSH-Birmingham walked with the Birmingham Heart Walk and the Northeast Alabama Heart Walk in Gadsden. This year, we are again participating with both groups.
